It has almost been 20 days since I last posted.
Nothing has happened. Really, nothing. I also forgot for a while and couldn’t think of anything to post about.
That’s how it is now as well.

I’m leaving on a short vacation tomorrow morning and I’m bringing my camera, so the next blog post will probably be a lot longer then this. :D

The News

July 27th, 2009 Akura No comments

Personally i could never get addicted to MMO games. No one else seem to have this problem, as Blizzard has proved. I have started playing World of Warcraft again, which seems to detract from my free time. My sister started playing again and she got me to play again to help her and such.  I still can’t get addicted, but most of my family plays now so i just go with it.

This is why updates on IPTBB are still lacking. Time to start kicking myself into gear and work on it some more. I looked into the plugin system, and all the examples i found are really OOP… and if you have looked at IPTBB’s source, you would know that it isn’t OOP at all. So plugins will have to wait for the 0.6 release, which is still planned… but far off. As for the other tasks… i dunno how many I’ll actually do. Finishing the reCAPTCHA support is a given, as well as an install file. The rest of it… we’ll see. I only planned to do the Ban system in the beginning, and that’s done… I just realized that i forgot one little thing in it, but that’s easily done. ReCAPTCHA is done on the backend, just need some settings in the ACP and thats really simple too. I wanted to get 0.5.7 out by halfway through the summer, so i might break it up into 2 releases. I got big fixes and 2 new features done (bans + recaptcha) since last release. I supposed if i finish anything else, it will be included t00…

Anyways, IPTBB 0.5.7 will be released on IPTBB’s 3rd anniversary on August 3rd. :) Not will all the features i have continuously piled up, but the planned ones. If or when i do get around to the other ones, it will be 0.5.75… but don’t get your hopes up! :D You all should know me by now… plans never work out. I’ll see if i have time to make a new skin (or one of the others) because we do not have a default one anymore. I’m pretty sure the old one is broken by now (sorry about that by the way) and the one IPTBB.org is using is kinda growing old. Well, thats this update.

Catch you on the flip side.

Quick Update

July 20th, 2009 Akura No comments

I should start to have more free time now. Hopefully i will make time for IPTBB! Yay!
Also, i added the plugin system task to the bug tracker. I have really wanted a plugin system for forever, but i still have no idea on how to do it. Ill do some research on the subject. :)

Nothing else to report really. I have been playing some old NES games that i remember as a kid. Pretty strange to see all this nostalgic stuff. Also watched some vids on youtube for old NES games. :)
Work is still progressing. Trying to save up for a new computer…
And the rest of my life is pretty laid back. I really have nothing important going on. Hopefully i can go on vacation this August though!

And thats the quick update. More later.

IPTBB Bug Tracker

July 14th, 2009 Akura No comments

I haven’t work on IPTBB much, but i did edit the bug tracker more to my liking.
When adding a task or a comment you could only use plain text, and thanks to this post i was able to add TinyMCE. So now you can do lists, html, etc in task descriptions for better organization. :D

That’s all i really have to say.
Also, i should have more free time starting next week, so updates should start picking up again then.

Idle

July 7th, 2009 Akura No comments

I’m kinda just idling recently… Spending most of my free time watching TV of some sort and just relaxing. I wish i had more free time really. I get to the point where i want to work on IPTBB but then its either off to work or off to sleep. Blah… well i should start having a lot more free time in a week or 2, so progress will begin anew then… hopefully. I dunno. I haven’t updated in 6 days so this is the weekly update i suppose. I’ll try to update more but not a lot going on.

What can I say?

July 1st, 2009 Akura 3 comments

Just an update after half a week.
Not much is going on. Just got my first paycheck, so I’m happy. :D Trying to resist the urge to just go on a buying spree. It’s a little hard. I know of all these little things i want to buy but I’m trying to look at the big picture… Should i save for more computer parts, should i get a guitar, should i buy a lot of games, should I buy some Figures to collect… I dunno. I would start saving if i knew i would have a steady job through next year but as far as i know this is only a summer arrangement, so if i started saving i wouldn’t have enough and i would be disappointing. So i probably wont save a lot of it… Hm. Well, on the more pointless albeit more interesting side there’s IPTBB and my programming endeavors. As you may (or may not) know, my job is PHP programming. Which is great, i get paid to do something I’m good at (i believe) and is entertaining to me. It has renewed my interest in PHP which has been lacking for almost half a year or more. I’m a lot more interested in PHP, but because of my job being PHP i really don’t have the urge to come home and do any work with PHP (IPTBB).

Intro

June 26th, 2009 Akura 4 comments

Well, I finally have time. Now just to think of what to say. :)

Well, I’m Brent Davis. I go by Akura online as I’m sure you can tell… :) Anyways, I’m 17 and graduating next year, then off to college for Computer Science.  I learned HTML, CSS, PHP, and Ruby basically in my spare time for no real reason. Ruby being the exception, I was taught it as a “class” this last year in school. It wasn’t technically a class, and there were only 4 students. Ah, good times. Currently, I have a job as an assistant programmer. I’m really lucky in my opinion, it’s a fun job and I only have it because I was bored one summer and decided to learn PHP. Speaking of learning PHP, this is my evil spawn of that endevour. But its the world of computing, always evolving, so I try my best to keep up to date developments with PHP and the like, though not as much lately. I still work on IPTBB though not alone. I have 2 others that mess with it from time to time, most notably is Alex Aitken, known as Surreal in these parts, who has contributed the most to the project. Me and him run the AXSN Network (redundant title… heh) although he basically does everything as of late. I really haven’t contributed to the network in… at least a year i would guess. The other swashbuckler that messed around with IPTBB is Lachy. He comments here from time to time and has a bad knack for not blogging frequently (If you are reading this, Post a blog dammit! :) ).
