Thoughts?

I’m leaving on a short vacation tomorrow morning and I’m bringing my camera, so the next blog post will probably be a lot longer then this.

Over the weekends i try to work on it if i remember. I do still have the urge to work on it because its fun and expands my knowledge in ways my job doesn’t. Why my job lets me come up with interesting new ways for me to solve problems in php and design workarounds, IPTBB is basically my sandbox where i don’t have restrictions on what to add or how to add it. This gives it more fun for me because if i have an idea its possible to implement it with IPTBB even though it’s not needed, planned, or called for. As a matter of fact, after i do the forum permissions i was planning on doing an embedded news feed type thing, where all you have to do is include it (whether iframe, php, whatever) in code on your main website and it automatically pulls data from a specified category or forum. With some parameters such as only stickied posts, or only posts by a specific user, etc. Maybe these can be combined: Topics in the “Blogs” forum by user Akura. This makes it possible to do a blogging type site. Or it can be simple: Topics in the “News” forum. (This is why its after permissions). Even though this isn’t on the Bug Tracker, I’m still going to do it. I know that Surreal was planning on interfacing SUMR with IPTBB, maybe he will use this same feature (albeit probably heavily edited).

On another topic, i have in mind a plan for my next PHP project. I will still work on IPTBB, but this is something i want to do along side it. I won’t tell what it is yet, but just so you know it probably won’t be open source. I plan it just to be my own personal thing, although i might release it when I’m done with it. We’ll see.

Well, I’m Brent Davis. I go by Akura online as I’m sure you can tell… Anyways, I’m 17 and graduating next year, then off to college for Computer Science.  I learned HTML, CSS, PHP, and Ruby basically in my spare time for no real reason. Ruby being the exception, I was taught it as a “class” this last year in school. It wasn’t technically a class, and there were only 4 students. Ah, good times. Currently, I have a job as an assistant programmer. I’m really lucky in my opinion, it’s a fun job and I only have it because I was bored one summer and decided to learn PHP. Speaking of learning PHP, this is my evil spawn of that endevour. But its the world of computing, always evolving, so I try my best to keep up to date developments with PHP and the like, though not as much lately. I still work on IPTBB though not alone. I have 2 others that mess with it from time to time, most notably is Alex Aitken, known as Surreal in these parts, who has contributed the most to the project. Me and him run the AXSN Network (redundant title… heh) although he basically does everything as of late. I really haven’t contributed to the network in… at least a year i would guess. The other swashbuckler that messed around with IPTBB is Lachy. He comments here from time to time and has a bad knack for not blogging frequently (If you are reading this, Post a blog dammit! ).
Well, I really don’t know what else to say. I’m an avid gamer (most of the time) and I have a strange draw to knives, swords, and airsoft guns. I hate heat, love snow, and catch on fire in the sunlight.

I once again have a blog, and I’m sure no one will know who i am unless you saw me post a link somewhere. Which i will.
Anyways, ill do the whole “introductionary” blog tomorrow. At least it’s set up.
